After news that Michael J. Fox was shopping for a network to run his new TV project (a single camera family comedy based on Fox’s own life, where he’ll be the lead, no less) all the network hell broke loose.
ABC wanted him after Modern Family.
Fox wanted him because they’re named Fox too.
CBS wanted him because Charlie Sheen replaced him after he left Spin City.
NBC wanted him because NBC sucks.
So, Michael J. Fox was schmoozed by whatever NBC offered, probably a boat load of money, plus creative freedom, plus a Thursday night slot (?) and a 22 episode deal for a first season of a series that not even has a pilot yet. Yup, they wanted him bad.
The show, penned by Sam Laybourne (Arrested Development, Cougar Town) and produced by Will Gluck (Easy A, Friends with Benefits) and Sony Pictures Television, should start next fall and I’m very excited about it.
