Lush – After Twenty Year Absence – Album Review

Blind Spot EP by Lush

Album Review:

Ethereal is the one word that best categorizes Lush’s brilliant musical workings. Recharging reality – after twenty years – Lush offers Blind Spot to their adoring fans. Many fans have been waiting two decades to experience the haunting and delicate persuasion of Lush. The wait is over! Lush released a four track EP to reinsert their music to modernity. Jeremy Zerbe said, “Every major shoegaze band from the genre’s late ‘80s/early ‘90s heyday has now returned, playing shows and releasing records with the promise of more to come” (CoS). Zerbe discussed Lush’s transient style, beginning in jangly inde-rock in ’87, adding brilliance in ’89, and then turning “radio-friendly” in ’96; he said, “Now, two decades later, they’ve returned with a brand new EP entitled Blind Spot, featuring Justin Welch of Elastica on drums, which doubles back to the dreamy, ethereal sound that made them famous” (CoS).
