Destroyer Previews “Dream Lover” From New Album + Tour Dates

Destroyer has released a track off his upcoming full-length LP, Poison Season, and it sounds like…well…like we have a lot to look forward to vis-à-vis Dan Bejar. “Dream Lover,” track number two off the album, gallops in much the same way a Bruce Springsteen anthem gallops, with horns ringing out over a driving bottom end and a piano riff that sounds not unlike that of “Teenage Wasteland.”

Bejar’s characteristically subdued, Bowie-ish vocals make an odd but happy pairing as he repeats “Oh shit, here comes the sun” over the melee of drums and sax. Yes, aspiring to light out in the lonely gloom before dawn, your engines roaring on, is not the sole provenance of blue collar kids from Jersey; Vancouver has highways too.

Speaking of being on the road, Destroyer will be kicking off his world in support of Poison Season starting in California in September. See the dates below and pre-order Poison Season here. The album is out 8.28.15 on Merge (US)/Dead Oceans (EU).
