Stream Shlohmo’s Dark Red; Tour Starts Today

In anticipation of next week’s release of Dark Red, Shlohmo is streaming the album in full at New York Times’ Press Play, who love his, “oozing, transformative music that slips from intriguing soundscape into another.” Listen here.  Shlohmo also kicks off his tour (check out the full list of dates at the bottom) after debuting his live show at SXSW in Austin, Shlohmo embarks on his first fully live band tour today as a three-piece with drums, synths and guitar. SPIN loved his set at FADER Fort in Austin, writing that his live setup “helped Shlohmo make one of the more indelible impressions among all electronic performers.” Shlohmo has also made a trailer that shows him and his bandmates getting ready in their studio for the live tour, watch below

The second full-length album from Shlohmo (aka Henry Laufer,) Dark Red is an uncanny marriage of his ever-evolving, richly textured sound with shades of ’90s IDM, R&B, cassette-tape Jungle, and even sludge metal. Pitchfork note, “five years after his debut, the producer’s style has evolved, but it’s still quite combustible,” and of new track “Beams,” NPR bestowed a Songs We Love and wrote, “’Beams’ is a veritable drum-and-bass anthem, not something you hear too often on this side of the Atlantic.” Simply put, AV Club state, “Dark Red is already one of my favorite albums of the year.”

Dark Red will be released April 7th, 2015 on True Panther/WeDidIt.
