Review: Lochness Monster – Fables

Fables is an album from another time, but the band behind it is very much with the times we’re living.

“Pixie Cut” by Lochness Monster sounds like it could be the lovechild of early  2000’s Weezer and Jimmy Eat World B sides, mixing warm clear vocals with brazenly fun rock ‘n’ roll. Power chords and all.

Released on Sobe Brooke Records, Lochness Monster drive home their best grimy nuMetallic rage, especially on tracks like “Anchors Gone,” one of two lead singles that can be found on Soundcloud.

With bouncing riffs like this one, it’s no wonder the Miami rock outfit reached out to James Paul Wisner (Underoath, Paramore) to produce the album.

Following the release of Fables, the album made the CMJ charts for several weeks in the top 50 position. The band is also releasing it’s first music video for the song “Pixie Cut” off their new album.
