oneohtrix

Oneohtrix Point Never recently released a new selection of commissioned works, Commissions II. It is a limited edition series, released on Record Store Day runs over 30 minutes. It took a lot of hands to make this an amazing finished product, engineered by R+7 partner Paul Corley and mastered by Bedroom Community’s Valgeir Sigurðsson. In collaboration with Lopatin, Robert Beatty produced the cover artwork layout. This time around composer/producer Daniel Lopatin was inspired by the video game soundtracks of celebrated Japanese artist Manabu Namiki, Lopatin’s arrangement “Bullet Hell Abstraction” deconstructs both the sonic and visual aesthetic of Japanese video games. Commissions II includes selections that he recorded for the performance, which was commissioned by Red Bull Music Academy and originally premiered at Womb, Tokyo (November 2014).
