Listen: Air Waves – “Milky Way”

If the Milky Way had a sound, this would be it. Air Wave‘s new song is extraterrestrial while still tapping into the most innate human desire: connection. “Milky Way” has a ghostly, repetitive guitar riff that rolls over itself right before clear, reverberating lyrics begin to plead “don’t let me go.”

Nicole Schneit, the brain and voice behind ,  explains that she wanted every track from her new album Parting Glances to be “complete and structured without losing the warmness that [she was striving] for.”  And boy does she accomplish this with “Milky Way,” the first single from the new album to be released in September on Western Vinyl. Stereogum is spot on when they describe Schneit’s songs as “deceptively simple.”  Once you settle in and allow the detailed images that her lyrics produce to engulf you, it’s impossible not to recognize the complexities of her words as she talks about relationships every one of us can identify with.  Once you hear “Milky Way,” you won’t want to let it go and quite frankly, it won’t let you go.
