Damon Albarn Carried From the Stage

Damon Albarn of The Blurs (and also known for being one of the voices of Gorillaz) literally had to be carried off the stage the other night when performing a five hour set with no breaks at Africa Express during the Roskilde Music Festival – a festival held in Denmark every year. What an excessive, yet impressive feat.

The reason for Albarn being hauled off the stage by security was not just the fact that he had just kept playing for an astounding amount of time, but he was violating the venue’s curfew. At that point it was 4 AM. The most amusing part about the whole affair besides the fact security literally picked him up and carried him off the stage was right when Albarn got the warning about the curfew, he and his band kicked into a cover of the punk rock classic Should I Stay or Should I Go, by The Clash. The audience seemed to love it and still chanted for more even after such a long marathon of songs. You would think they would get tired, but apparently not.

This whole incident really does bring the idea of getting carried away to a whole new level.
