A breakthrough 2014 saw Cosmo cement himself as one of the most exciting musicians around. His sold-out debut 7″ single through paradYse Records (Marika Hackman, Cold Specks) picked up support from the likes of Radio 1, The Telegraph and The Guardian as well as reaching #1 on the Hype Machine chart and surpassing 600,000 plays on SoundCloud.
It was a year that also found Cosmo taking to the stage across the world with sold out shows in Paris, Berlin and New York. UK and EU tours with Sylvan Esso and Johnny Flynn we’re followed with a special performance at London’s The Barbican alongside Laura Marling and the Mystery Jets.
It has been almost a year since Cosmo’s latest offering, and ‘Tardigrade Song’ doesn’t disappoint. Continuing his love of the nonsensical, ‘Tardigrade Song’ see’s Sheldrake imagine himself as one of nature’s toughest species (a tiny water dwelling animal no bigger than a pencil dot) living in the sea. Cosmo’s vibrant vocals soar as the track quickly descends into a maddeningly catchy slice of indietronica, reminiscent of Metronomy or alt-J.
With a debut EP just around the corner via Transgressive Records and a full UK and European tour soon to be announced keep track of Cosmo Sheldrake via his official website here.
