2012 Emmy Nominations: Are Your Favorite TV Shows Here? #Poll

by • July 19, 2012 • tvComments Off444

As it happens every year, Mad Men is in the lead with 17 Emmy nominations which means it might break the record as the most-awarded drama in television history. As of now, they’re tied with Hill Street Blues, LA Law and The West Wing.

American Horror Story also received 17 nominations, but we all know how this will go down.

At the top of the nomination chain are also British bougie drama Downton Abbey, with 16 noms, and Hatfields & McCoys, with 16, and Hemingway & Gellhorn with 15.

Modern Family, the series that has taken over in the past years, is the most popular sitcom with 14 bids.

Freshman series Girls, received a best comedy nod and an Lena Dunham got a best actress nom herself. Zooey Deschanel’s adorkable Jess in the New Girl also got an unexplicable nod for best actress. I hope she wins.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who won in the past for Seinfeld and The New Adventures of Old Christine, earned a nod for Veep, which is great, because Veep is great and you should be watching it. The unstopabble Betty White got a nomination for best reality series host for Betty White’s Off Their Rockers.

The nominations were announced by Kerry Washington and by Jimmy Kimmel, who will be the host this year. He wasn’t originally set to announce it, but he filled in for Nick Offerman in the last minute, who was held back by weather related travel issues.

The 2012 Emmys award show will air on ABC on September 23.
