Bansky New York’s residency is generating a lot of conversations and apparently money to some residents of East New York. The neighborhood is known for it’s violence and gang related problems and Banksy’s piece is giving it a lot of attention. The residents of that area are not very happy about all the “people that don’t belong there” coming to take a peek at the stencil beaver and are being forewarned that they might get robbed. I’m not sure if anyone cares enough about a stencil beaver to go through that amount of problem, but what do I know.
Artist Pedro Reyes is the sculptor behind the project.
Pedro Reyes creates second generation instruments from dismantled guns. With a team of musicians and new media studio, Cocolab, Reyes has made mechanized instruments from these one-time harmful weapons.
Mars Bar might be gone, but it will forever be remembered. But, will it though? Artist Randy Hage has an on going project where he recreates storefronts of shops that are condemned or about to be no more. There’s an interview with him after the jump and he tells us how he also works for TV and film. You had me at Gilmore Girls, Randy.
