Marvel revealed a bunch of cool logos and titles and release dates and footage from Ant-man and Iron-man 3, but if I had to review the overall achievements of their “phase one”, I’d say it was just OK. Sure, Iron Man was surprisingly fun, but Iron Man 2 not so. Captain America and Thor were OK, but frustratingly whelming. The Incredible Hulk was lukewarm. Not great, not terrible, it was safe. That being said, The Avengers was great. It was as if all the other movies were dialed down in the fun department, so The Avengers could come and take all the cake. That movie changed my mind about super-hero movies. Yes, there’s something still there. So here is their official statement.
Today at its Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2012, Marvel Studios announced two upcoming films: “Guardians of the Galaxy,” coming August 1, 2014, and displayed test footage for the very first time for “Ant-Man,” to be directed by Edgar Wright. With the announcement came the reveal of the first concept art for “Guardians of the Galaxy” by Charlie Wen, as well as logos for both films. In addition, Marvel Studios announced the official titles to the Thor and Captain America sequels: “Thor: The Dark World,” in theaters November 8, 2013, and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” in theaters April 4, 2014. Check out all logos, plus the just-released “Iron Man 3″ logo, and as always stay tuned to Marvel.com for more on Marvel Studios’ upcoming slate.
Apparently, Ben Kingsley was also confirmed as the Mandarin in Iron Man 3. I think he’s too old and too not Asian at all for the part, but what do I know?
